Hiko Mitsuzuka

HIKO MITSUZUKA is a pop culture pundit and writer who was born and raised in New Rochelle, New York where he grew up on a steady diet of Aaron Spelling soaps, 80s slasher films, his German-Irish mother's meatloaf, and rice bowls made by his Japanese father.

He resides in Los Angeles where he has spent several years at world-renowned production companies such as Carsey-Werner and Anonymous Content while freelancing as a treatment writer for several reputable directors. He has also moonlighted as a producer and a travel and entertainment journalist – his work appearing in Instinct, HuffPost, Bello Mag, ScreenPicks, Medium, and Hotter in Hollywood, for which he was the Executive Editor during its 9-year run.

Hiko most recently served as the Director of Creative Services and copywriter at the award-winning Known Global (formerly Stun Creative), where he won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Promotional Announcement for his work on ViacomCBS's Jeopardy! All-Star Games campaign and a Clio Award for his copy on 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's "Christmas Movie" campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary release of Die Hard. Additional work includes campaigns for clients such as ABC, AMC, Beyond Meat, Bravo, Discovery, Fandango, Fox, Freeform, FX, HBO, HBO Max, Hulu, NBCUniversal, Netflix, NFL Network, Nickelodeon, Princess Cruises, Priv, TBS, TNT, Universal Music Group, and WarnerMedia.

In 2023, he was the recipient of the Mission Award in Patient Support for his fundraising efforts with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Besides horror films, Hiko’s other obsessions include Heartstopper, Poker Face, curating his Fear Street IG fan account (@FearStreetDiaries), and revisiting vintage pop culture gems like Clue and The Golden Girls while making quarterly playlists of new music on Spotify. His vices include chocolate chip cookies and movie theater popcorn. He is currently working on the upcoming thriller novel The Final Boy.
